What Are You Working On???

Originally posted on August 19, 2007 by Christy of ChristysQuilts

Two friends of mine are getting married on Sept 2. That's only two weeks away and I'm very excited for them because they are both exceptional people who make each other very happy.

I checked their online registries and found out that a lot of their household items are going to be black and white. I also asked my friend and she said the house would be very contemporary, black, white and red. Now, it's been a while since I've made a completely pieced quilt. So I decided to make one for them as a wedding gift from the hubby and I. Black, white and hints of red.

Another person in a quilting group I am a part of had just made a quilt that inspired me. I decided to make the same basic design except in my colors. I verified with her that she was ok with me using her pattern and she was A-OK with it. Excited even.

So I picked out lots of black and white print fabrics, solid black and solid white. It took me a day to get it all starched and cut out. Then another day to get the top pieced together. The next morning I quilted it! (I'm a very fast sewer and quilter).

I decided to make the quilt label on the front of the quilt this time as part of one of the blocks. It looks nice and I'm glad I decided to do it that way.

I still need to bind it, but I'm out of town right now for work, so I can't get to it for a couple more days. I'm excited about how good it came together.

I like the design so much (as does hubby) that I'm going to make one for us too! I can't wait to show it to you in a few weeks (when I have time to finish it between jobs).

Here is a picture of it I took before it was completely put together (and before quilting it).

(Ignore the odd angle, it's the angle I held the camera, not the skew in the actual quilt)

I'll get a closeup pic of the top, label and back as soon as I get back home. :)

Anyway, this is the project I'm working on...what are YOU working on?
